Let’s start with their favorite thing…food!! The boys LOVE food (don’t we all?!) and come over to beg when they see me, even chomping their jaws. This is one of the best quality and most nutritious dried foods you can get. The granules are very small, but not too small for bettas. They all have loved it from the start – and they can be picky! The price is right as well, as it lasts such a long time!
Up next, decor! Many betta have long flowing fins that can easily be damaged on plastic plants. biOrb plants are super soft! even that spiky purple one is unbelievably smooth! The construction is high quality. They hold up very well and the colors don’t fade. They are a stunning addition to any aquarium.
Here we have some very important items, water additives! Prime is a staple. The best water conditioner. It dechlorinates and detoxifies tap water. Stress Coat has helped my fish quickly heal when they’ve torn their fins. Indian Almond Leaves create a healing environment as well, as they help mimic what would be a wild betta’s environment. Plus, this particular brand includes a cute free gift! These products help reduce stress on my bettas and myself!
In addition, betta fish require warm water. Unless you live in a tropical area, this means you should probably have a heater. I like this one because it keeps 3 of my boys nice and warm in their (divided) ten gallon tank. It is extra awesome because you can adjust the temperature you set it at! Not all heaters have that feature. It is an affordable, quality product.
Lastly, let’s talk about this fun product! An exercise mirror. It is good for betta to flare once in a while, it safely mimics the environment of a wild betta. Naturally they would come across others in the wild. You leave it in only up to five minutes max. This helps them stay active, and most of my boys enjoy it. I say most, because my sweet Honey is not as aggressive as the others. He hides from the mirror. So with this product, I do think it is beneficial but I recommend you watch your betta to make sure it isn’t only stressing them out.
