To start, Black History Month is celebrated in the US and Canada during February. It originated as a way to remember the important people and events in the history of the African diaspora. Now, many use it as a way of bringing well-deserved recognition to current black creators, businesses, scholars etc.
As for this post, I have some delicious products to share. Maya’s Cookies is a black owned business, founded by a woman! In fact, they are America’s #1 black owned vegan cookie company.

Maya’s Cookies has everything from old classics to new unique flavor combinations. They are vegan, soft-baked and absolutely gourmet! Some are even gluten free. Maya’s Cookies is San Diego based, and ships nationwide.
For Black History Month, Maya chose to create three special cookies. Each are inspired by prominent figures in the black community.

First, we have the Hank Aaron. To honor this baseball icon, Maya’s Cookies created the perfect ballgame inspired treat. With Cracker Jack pieces, peanuts and butterscotch chips – this cookie is amazing! As you can tell from the description, so much thought is put into each recipe.
Second, there is the Debbie Allen. From acting to directing and producing – this woman can do it all!! Inspired by the fabulous “Hot Chocolate Nutcracker,” this cookie is absolutely like a cup of that decadent beverage. With marshmallow and chocolate sprinkles and dough, this cookie will leave you feeling cozy and content.

Third, we have the Amanda Gorman. Our absolutely stunning and moving National Youth Poet Laureate. She represents power and possibility, and this cookie captures her spirit well. With lemon, white chocolate and raspberries (inspired by her classy and bright attire), this cookie is tart yet sweet. Yum!
In conclusion, when I say that these are the best cookies I have ever tasted – I mean it!! Not just the best vegan cookies – the best cookies, period. Soft and packed full of flavor. You can taste the passion and love in each bite of Maya’s Cookies. If you love cookies, and love to support black/woman owned businesses, do not hesitate! Order now, treat yo’self!

Which prominent figure in the black community would you want a cookie made for?? And what ingredients would you use? For me, I would create one after Courtney Quinn, of @colormecourtney on Instagram. It would be made of rainbows and sunshine! Ha! Perhaps lemon dough with skittles?? Would that be weird??
